Puddha's Palace Oriental & Tibetan Cats

Welcome to Puddha's Palace

...the proud breeder of two stars from The Cat Collection magazine -

'Leila the Seychellois' (aka Dewdrop of Puddha's Palace)

'Mandi the Oriental Longhair' (aka Rinca of Puddha's Palace)

Introduction

My name is Ash Molloy and I first started breeding Orientals in 2003, after having a life long passion for 'skinny and pointy' cats.  I share my home with my husband, our two young girls, a menace of a Flat Coated Retriever and a small 'pride' of mini-lions.  We live in beautiful Mid Wales, quite near to Welshpool.

We have a small number of kittens each year and though I specialise in Oriental Longhairs (Javanese) and Balinese, we can also produce Oriental Shorthairs, Siamese and Seychellois.

I am also the UK's first and only breeder of rare Tibetan cats.

In the Oriental group the term 'longhair' does not refer to long hair  like that of the Persian cat or even the semi-longhaired cats like Maine Coons. The coat of  Oriental Longhairs (including Balinese and Seychellois Longhairs) should be silky and close-lying. They often appear as shorthaired cats, the most notable difference being in lovely ear tufts and a sweeping, plumed tail.

Breeding Cats

I breed under FIFe rules (the world's largest registering body for pedigreed cats) with the registered cattery name of Puddha's Palace.  We are proud members of the Aristocats Club and of Felis Britannica, the British leg of FIFe.

All our cats live indoors because they are part of our family.  Our kittens are born and raised in the heart of the house where they can be properly socialised and accustomed to family living.

Recently a number of aquaintances have referred to Puddha's Palace as 'my livelihood'. Although I run Puddha's Palace as a business with professional standards, it is in no way a livelihood! I honestly don't know anyone who breeds cats for money.  Breeding is a hobby.  I do it because I have a passion for it.  I really enjoy all aspects of it: studying pedigrees, planning matings, watching birth, raising kittens, meeting new people and showing my beautiful cats.

I get so excited when we have kittens due and take so much pleasure from watching them grow.  It's hard work raising baby animals and often heartbreaking.  I dedicate so much time and money to their needs and welfare and much time in the service of our kitten buyers and enquirers.  Breeding, when done properly, is an expensive hobby.  That's why pedigreed pets cost so much to buy.

My breeding projects are progressive; I always have a goal I'm working towards. For the past few years my project has been Seychellois Longhairs and bi-coloured Oriental Longhairs. I've produced some of the first Seychellois Longhairs and the very first bi-coloured OLHs in the UK. Currently my projects are Oriental Longhair - Cinnamon and Tibetans cats.

I take my responsibilty as a breeder very seriously, which means I don't sell kittens to just anyone.  I look for very special homes for all our babies. One of the nicest aspects of my hobby is that I get to meet so many lovely, genuine people, real animal lovers.  It helps to maintain my faith in the human race.  I hope you enjoy your visit to this site.  If there is anything else you would like to know please get in touch.
